Beyond The Lens Photography bio picture

Visual Artist Unleashed

I am a mother, a wife, a friend, and a photographer.  Photography is the part of my life that has brought me here:

Welcome to my blog.  Here you can find my most recent work along with other tidbits from life's adventures.  I have had a camera in my hand since my first son was born 12 years ago.  Since then, what was a hobby, has flourished into an obsession and a career.  I find my passion for photography grows everyday.  Whether it is something new to learn, a new friend to make, or a new place to explore.  Photography challenges me, and allows me a creative outlet all at the same time.  So I welcome you to look around and get to know me a bit, feedback and conversation are always appreciated.  And check back often for new posts and stories!!!

Rangers NHL Hockey Game; NYC

More of… “The Off Season Chronicles”

A few weekends ago Joe and I had a rare outing without the kiddies.  We went with a few friends to check out the big city!  We ate dinner at this restaurant called Primehouse.  If you are ever in the city and want a serious meal….go here.  The food is amazing.  We then ventured to a Rangers Hockey game  at Madison Square Garden.  I have to say it was a bit different.  I enjoyed the experience, but more than anything else, I had a blast hanging out with great friends, and just being…

Debuting on the blog for the first time…this is Bonnie and Steven (cute right?) I see a family session in their near future!

Random pictures…but none no more random than taking a picture from the guys that we asked directions from…

We’re waiting to cross the street, I turn around and say…”Guys look here!” and I get this total 90210 thing…LOL!

In the midst of eating we realize, we left the hockey tickets in the parking garage 12 blocks away.  So we break up into groups.  Brian and Joe go to the car to get the tickets, and Me, Megan, Bonnie, and Steven head to Madison Square Garden.  Only, we get there first and Steven starts to lose his mind.  Not only is he OCD and likes things to be “just so”.  He is also a die hard Rangers fan (notice the jersey) and completely started freaking out!

I am cracking up at the one where you guys were around the phone with GPS, we had done the same thing when we went into the city and it just got us more lost. That commercial with Hansel & Gretel and their GPS lies! :D Happy you had a fun time though.

I am Thankful for….. The Men in My Life

How often is it that we all stroll through our lives as if each breath is a given?  As if each moment is owed to us?  As if every person is only exsisting to be part of the world that revolves around us?  Not just today, but every day….

I am thankful for my boys.  My healthy, wonderful, heaven sent, sweet boys!

November 25, 2009 - 10:03 pm Brianna Phelan - I'm sitting here crying. This post was really beautiful and hit a chord with me. We had a scare this week with Ewan losing his eye sight and our whole world temporarily fell apart. So many days we walked through life taking each breath for granted. This really made us step back and think about what's important. Your post just did this to me all over again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

November 25, 2009 - 2:40 pm Tab - Have a great Turkey Day! Did you dye Noah's hair? It looks like he has highlights!! :)

Ellsworth Orchard and Berry Farm; Sharon, CT

“The Off Season Chronicles” starting now…

As most of you know wedding season 09 has past for me.  Though I am still in touch with my clients, and hard working for them still, I am all done shooting weddings this year.  That being said something has to grace this lovely blog.  So in the next few days, weeks, and months I have cooked up a few ideas to keep you all coming back for more.  One of those items will be some of the things that Joe and I did with the kids over the summer and the fall.

I am a bit backwards, but I am starting with this trip we took to a local orchard in October.  We literally live 3 minutes from this orchard and have never stopped in to pick anything.  Joe and I decided we wanted to try our hand at canning over the next year, so it gave us a perfect opportunity to stop in to the orchard.  We picked blue berries, raspberries, and tons (seriously TONS) of apples.  It happened to be on that more than perfect weekend we had in October when it was 70 or something like that.  It was such a beautiful day and the kids had a ball.  Noah ate his weight in blueberries, and we found out Branndon has no standards when it comes to the perfect apple.  It doesn’t even matter if it has worms!  It only matters how many bags you can fill in 4 minutes!  Christian also showed us his juggling skills.  Our day ended with a storm blowing in and a rare rainbow over the Litchfield Hills.  We really did have a great time and we wound up picking enough apples for like 20 quartz or so of some seriously amazing apple sauce.  My parents showed Joe and I the basics of canning when they visited in early October.  Here are a few pictures I took of our trip to Ellsworth Orchard and Berry Farm.  I would highly recommend anyone stopping by there in the summer and fall.
