Beyond The Lens Photography bio picture

Visual Artist Unleashed

I am a mother, a wife, a friend, and a photographer.  Photography is the part of my life that has brought me here:

Welcome to my blog.  Here you can find my most recent work along with other tidbits from life's adventures.  I have had a camera in my hand since my first son was born 12 years ago.  Since then, what was a hobby, has flourished into an obsession and a career.  I find my passion for photography grows everyday.  Whether it is something new to learn, a new friend to make, or a new place to explore.  Photography challenges me, and allows me a creative outlet all at the same time.  So I welcome you to look around and get to know me a bit, feedback and conversation are always appreciated.  And check back often for new posts and stories!!!

New Website!!! Featuring Weddings, Engagements, Family, Trash the Dress, and Babies.

New Website!!!!!

I’m so excited to tell everyone that I have FINALLY updated my website. I have been meaning to do it for months, but I have just been so busy! At any rate….it’s done.

I just wanted to add that neither my website, my photography, or my business in general would be what it is today without the help of quite a few people. One in particular is Eric Langlois from Raw Photo Design. He has not only been an inspiration, but he has been supportive, encouraging, constructive, and just plain fun. I also wouldn’t have had the opportunities to grow my business and my portfolio if it wasn’t for him! My goal isn’t to be the most superb photographer in the world…because being quite honest…I can think of at least 12 that couldn’t be touched and I love knowing there is still more for me to learn. My entire goal over the last year has been to learn and grow. I feel I have accomplished that, and I don’t see my self stopping anytime soon! So a huge thank you to Eric for letting me tag along and play!!!!

I also wanted to thank my husband Joe and my boys Christian, Branndon, and Noah, who have really sacrificed a lot over the last year for me to pursue my new found love of photography. Without their love I’d be only half the person I am!

Also a huge shout out to a few of the Pugger’s I’ve come to know and love….Carla Ten Eyck, Paul McNerny, Krystal Prue, Rob Trensky, Kiva, Robin Dini, Justin and Mary Marantz, Nikki Nicole, Val McCormick, Eric Foley, and Steve Depino…….(did I leave anyone out!) These people have either supported me and given me encouragement, or have been a huge part in my learning process over the last few months! Thank you all…
(For those of you who don’t know, this is the Pictage User Group of Hartford CT, and they are some of the coolest people I know)

So it’s not that the new site is the most amazing thing ever, but I have seen a huge improvement in my photography over the last year and I wanted to showcase that, but more importantly I wanted all of you to know that I am only able to do this through the experiences and support you have all selflessly given me!

August 4, 2008 - 11:08 am E R I C - Stop....you're making me blush. And my business would not be where it is today if it wasn't the help of other well-meaning photogs that helped me along the way. So....pay it forward my friend! So, now all you have to do is lose that first line in the last paragraph "not that the new site is the most amazing thing ever" and you'll be good to go! Because it's pretty darn amazing if you ask me :)

Ready for Lancaster!!!!!??? Woohoo!!!!

July 31, 2008 - 8:33 am Anonymous - The site looks amazing babe!! It is crazy how far you have come in about a year. I think that is why I wanted you to update the site so bad, because every shoot you seem to come up with something just a little better than the last. Keep up the great work!! Love ya

What is a Diva??????? Rebecca; Trash the Dress

What is a Diva?….

A diva is a term usually used to describe a celebrated female singer or actor. The term was originally used to describe a woman of rare, outstanding talent. It derives from the Italian word ‘diva’ meaning “goddess” or “fine lady”[1]. TIME magazine observed in its October 21, 2002 issue: “By definition, a diva was originally used for great female opera singers, almost always sopranos.”(from Wikipedia)

Meet Rebecca…..she is my Diva sister!!!!! This chick simply rocks. She is one of those charismatic, quick witted kind of women that you just want to be around all the time because she is a pure blast no matter what you are doing. I think “Diva”, “Goddess” and “Fine Lady” describe her perfectly. I met Rebecca back in the spring while second shooting at her wedding with Dave Jeffrey from CT Photo Group. We made pretty quick friends (because I am naturally drawn to women of her caliber) and she eventually asked me to trash her dress. Needless to say I had an absolute blast this past Sunday afternoon at Kent Falls trashing her dress with her and our 50 million onlookers. Man did we make a spectacle of ourselves. Later we were met by Eric Langlois of Raw Photo Design and he also has some rockin shots from the affair, so check out his blog.

Here is my sneak peak of the trashing….and I’ll do another post in the next few weeks with my final edits. Rebecca I hope you enjoy them….:) and thank you so much for the awesome afternoon!!!!!

(P.S….just a side note here….I have really been neglecting my blog. Between the kids being on summer break, the new deck we built, and our vacation in Nags Head N.C….I have been beyond busy. This post is out of order, but I wanted to get them up for Rebecca…so hopefully I’ll be getting the other posts up that I have been meaning to do!!!)

July 24, 2008 - 12:50 pm Mike Evans - Danielle, AWESOME!!! Really what else can I say.

July 23, 2008 - 9:47 am Eric Foley - I agree! The hair shot is cwazy! (as my son would say)

July 23, 2008 - 4:29 am Anonymous - I think this is where all the rap stars praise "THE BIG MAN UPSTAIRS" for my amazing day shooting, without him none of this would have been possible!....(sorry had to do it) This is her Diva Sister here, I was never into the term Diva, but now, I think I'm liking rockin it! I loved every moment from trashing my dress or "drown the gown" and Danielle was a huge part of that, she's AMAZING

July 22, 2008 - 9:47 pm e R I C - Oh snap! that hair shot is magazine potential!!! Awesome work....soo....you make it sound like I actually have photos of her on my blog already??? Ummm....so, I guess I better get crackin' huh?

July 22, 2008 - 7:33 am Beyond The Lens Photography - Thanks guys....We only had to do the hair shot a few times till I got what I wanted. My fave is probably #3 though....I don'treally know why. Rob....it does suck tat you couldn't make it. I wish we had been able to keep the original date. Then everyone I wanted would of been there...but there will be more I am sure!!! Thanks for the comments guys!

July 22, 2008 - 7:25 am Robert J. Trenske - Hey Danielle, awesome photos, I so wish I could have been there to shoot with you, I was looking forward to it. I am sure there will be other opportunities.

Trash the Dress; Amy, super model!

Here she is….Amy the rockin super model! I have been locked in the digital darkroom since 8 this morning, (with all the Jamaican photos I “tooled”) but I did get to a few of my favorite shots of Amy!!! This was a shoot I did last weekend with Eric from Raw Photo Design, whom as you all know, is kick ass!!!! (http://www.rawphotodesign.com/) I had such a blast on this shoot I can’t even explain it. Amy was a natural behind the camera and just tore it up! You go girl! And it wouldn’t of been possible without Eric’s lovely assistants either! Here are a few of my favs and at this point who knows when I will get to the rest??? :)

April 7, 2008 - 7:50 pm Amy - Danielle, I love your pics. Its so hard looking at these and seeing its me. Can you and Eric take my picture all the time? Great meeting you.. you have some amazing shots! ~amy

April 5, 2008 - 6:50 am Beyond The Lens Photography - Yeah that's what I thought when I saw your blog of them, but I tried to find others. I totally love the one you have of her all back lit though. I didn't get that one. So I am doing a good job of shadowing you right? I think one of these shots is when I tagged you with my lens! :)....Thank you again for the opportunity Eric!!!!

April 5, 2008 - 4:43 am raw photo design - That first shot is gorgeous danielle, beautiful work. these pictures actually made me chuckle a little because I totally have the same shots but with a slightly different angle... that's what happens with two shooters!

April 4, 2008 - 6:44 pm Eric Foley - Looks like you had a blast! Can't wait to see more!
