Ellsworth Orchard and Berry Farm; Sharon, CT

“The Off Season Chronicles” starting now…

As most of you know wedding season 09 has past for me.  Though I am still in touch with my clients, and hard working for them still, I am all done shooting weddings this year.  That being said something has to grace this lovely blog.  So in the next few days, weeks, and months I have cooked up a few ideas to keep you all coming back for more.  One of those items will be some of the things that Joe and I did with the kids over the summer and the fall.

I am a bit backwards, but I am starting with this trip we took to a local orchard in October.  We literally live 3 minutes from this orchard and have never stopped in to pick anything.  Joe and I decided we wanted to try our hand at canning over the next year, so it gave us a perfect opportunity to stop in to the orchard.  We picked blue berries, raspberries, and tons (seriously TONS) of apples.  It happened to be on that more than perfect weekend we had in October when it was 70 or something like that.  It was such a beautiful day and the kids had a ball.  Noah ate his weight in blueberries, and we found out Branndon has no standards when it comes to the perfect apple.  It doesn’t even matter if it has worms!  It only matters how many bags you can fill in 4 minutes!  Christian also showed us his juggling skills.  Our day ended with a storm blowing in and a rare rainbow over the Litchfield Hills.  We really did have a great time and we wound up picking enough apples for like 20 quartz or so of some seriously amazing apple sauce.  My parents showed Joe and I the basics of canning when they visited in early October.  Here are a few pictures I took of our trip to Ellsworth Orchard and Berry Farm.  I would highly recommend anyone stopping by there in the summer and fall.
